The culprit we first thought of: face masks!

But why is this happening? I should be protected inside the mask, right?

While yes we are protected from the outside world, the other concern would be what’s happening inside our masks. With our breathing and little ventilation, our chin and cheek area is becoming humid which makes it a perfect environment for P.acne bacteria!

What should I start doing then?

Here’s what we all can do in dealing with maskne:

•  Wash that mask, please

While it can be tempting to reuse the mask you have only used for 30 minutes at the grocery store, this is much more risky than we think. The sweat, saliva, or skincare that has come contact with the mask fabric can be a breeding ground for bacteria.

In case you really want to reuse, it’s safe if you wash the mask with soap and hot water.

• Check your mask fabric

Some fabrics can be harsh on the skin. You may not notice it but the small frictions with our skin and fabric can cause irritations.

Recommended fabrics are cotton and silk. Nowadays, filters are available and can be bought separately in the market, so function of filtering won’t be an issue. What’s a better way to be fashionable in this pandemic situation than wearing your favorite silk color. ?

• Use gentle and lightweight skin care products

If you’re used to using moisturizers daily, maybe try switching to a lightweight formula that won’t potentially clog the pores. Consider using aloe vera like Nature Republic 92% Aloe Vera Gel. Focus on products that will both hydrate and heal your skin.

• Dare to be (partially) bare

If you dare, consider skipping heavy makeup when wearing mask ‘coz half of our face is hidden anyway? Makeup tends to clog the pores. And with the heat inside our mask, our pores are most likely to open and prone to clogging!

• De-stress

The COVID-19 pandemic has definitely impacted us in many ways. If you’re feeling down because of the situation, know that your feelings are valid. It’s okay not to be positive regarding the situation.

Find a way for you to destress, may it be as simple as talking to your friends, listening to your comfort music, drinking your favorite tea, or doing guided meditations.

Honest Review: Innisfree Microcara

You know how models still look good during their off day? Let me tell you a secret: it’s their mascara! A swipe of your favorite mascara will give your eyes that pop during both makeup days and glam night!

Here, we tested the Innisfree Microcara for you. Read further to know if it made our eye pop or plop! 

What it claims:

It is called Microcara for nothing. This mascara has a microbrush which has approximately 2.5mm diameter. Using this brush, you can curl every last lash from root to tip. No lash left behind!

It is available in both black and brown shade, too!

How it performs:

The wand is the star here guys! It can reach the unreachable areas of your lashes. It is flexible so its poke-my-eyes proof!

Microcara gave my eyelashes that “my lashes but better” look. The wand helped in separating the lash pieces and did not give the clumpy wet look.

It lengthened my eyelashes slightly but not giving the volume we have using the usual wands.

At the end of the day, it was pretty easy to remove the mascara as the formula tends to be flaky and not smudgy.

Our Verdict:

? PROS

I loved the wand as it can be flexible to reach the corners of the lashes. The look is natural and is perfect for that “no makeup” makeup look. It doesn’t smudge, too!

? CONS

It did not hold the curl of my eyelashes. The formula can be improved further. If you’re into volumized lashes, this is not for you.

If you love Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Brow Wiz, you’ll definitely want to add this in your stash. It holds your brows into place and compliments the definition that Brow Wiz would give.

There are tons of brow gels in the market ranging from $2 to $27 and some come in with tint to compliment the brows and fill in the sparse area. But what if I told you that you can get the same natural look for less. Yup, even as low as the cheapest eyebrow gel!

While this trick has been popularized by beauty bloggers and Youtubers, it is actually an old Hollywood technique that’s been used for years. And it involves a product you probably have in your bathroom.

A soap.

But it needs to be a transparent one.

What? What am I going to do with soap?

The technique is quite simple:

·       Get a bar of transparent soap, something like Pears Original (which you can get for   less than two dollars).

·       Wet your spoolie with water or setting spray. This is to spread the product easily.

·       Brush it across the soap without the soap lathering up.

·       Brush your brows in the direction of hair growth and groom according to your liking.

·       Make sure to fix the hairs before the soap dries up.

The result is a natural-looking feathery brow that is glued in place!

So, what do you think of this hack? Me, I’m ditching my expensive brow gels with this soap brow technique!
