Honest Review: Innisfree Microcara

You know how models still look good during their off day? Let me tell you a secret: it’s their mascara! A swipe of your favorite mascara will give your eyes that pop during both makeup days and glam night!

Here, we tested the Innisfree Microcara for you. Read further to know if it made our eye pop or plop! 

What it claims:

It is called Microcara for nothing. This mascara has a microbrush which has approximately 2.5mm diameter. Using this brush, you can curl every last lash from root to tip. No lash left behind!

It is available in both black and brown shade, too!

How it performs:

The wand is the star here guys! It can reach the unreachable areas of your lashes. It is flexible so its poke-my-eyes proof!

Microcara gave my eyelashes that “my lashes but better” look. The wand helped in separating the lash pieces and did not give the clumpy wet look.

It lengthened my eyelashes slightly but not giving the volume we have using the usual wands.

At the end of the day, it was pretty easy to remove the mascara as the formula tends to be flaky and not smudgy.

Our Verdict:

? PROS

I loved the wand as it can be flexible to reach the corners of the lashes. The look is natural and is perfect for that “no makeup” makeup look. It doesn’t smudge, too!

? CONS

It did not hold the curl of my eyelashes. The formula can be improved further. If you’re into volumized lashes, this is not for you.

Awarded as Allure Best of Beauty Game Changer, Boy Brow makes your eyes pop in an instant. It fills in the gaps without actually looking like you’ve put anything on your brows. We only just wish it had a bigger bottle as we are running out of it in an instant!

Clear Brow Gel by Anastasia Beverly Hills, $22

If you love Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Brow Wiz, you’ll definitely want to add this in your stash. It holds your brows into place and compliments the definition that Brow Wiz would give.

There are tons of brow gels in the market ranging from $2 to $27 and some come in with tint to compliment the brows and fill in the sparse area. But what if I told you that you can get the same natural look for less. Yup, even as low as the cheapest eyebrow gel!

While this trick has been popularized by beauty bloggers and Youtubers, it is actually an old Hollywood technique that’s been used for years. And it involves a product you probably have in your bathroom.

A soap.

But it needs to be a transparent one.

What? What am I going to do with soap?

The technique is quite simple:

·       Get a bar of transparent soap, something like Pears Original (which you can get for   less than two dollars).

·       Wet your spoolie with water or setting spray. This is to spread the product easily.

·       Brush it across the soap without the soap lathering up.

·       Brush your brows in the direction of hair growth and groom according to your liking.

·       Make sure to fix the hairs before the soap dries up.

The result is a natural-looking feathery brow that is glued in place!

It smudges a little. Just a little!

Ultra Slim Brow Pecil by ULTA ($10)

Pros:

Similar to NYX’ Micro Brow Pencil, Ultra Slim Brow Pencil by ULTA makes it easy to mimic hair strokes. Perfect for when you want to achieve feathered brows that runway models sport! The pigmentation is not too dark but buildable which makes it easy for beginners to control. ?

Cons:

It doesn’t have the right amount of creaminess in the formula which makes it difficult to apply as it won’t glide on the brows. It also clumps the brow hairs a little bit and easily wears off.

Brow Boss Pencil by ColourPop ($6)

Pros:

Another great dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Brow Wiz is ColourPop’s Brow Boss Pencil. It has a great color selection, buildable pigment, and easily glides on the skin.

Cons:

It’s an amazing product for only $6, but the catch is it contains just a small amount of product which you’ll run out of fast if you use this often. It’ll be hard and rough to apply at first so make sure to warm up the product at the back of your hand for easy application.

Micro Brow Pencil by Morphe ($5)

Pros:

Hmmm.. this is filed under “Great Dupes for Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Brow Wiz” although, some might say it’s even better than the ABH! It has a rich pigment so you don’t have to go over on and on to get your desired coverage. The quality of this product is amazing and at a very affordable price! 

Cons:

You’ll have to stock up on this product because it doesn’t contain much product in its component plus it has a tendency to break off easily.

Brow Stylist by L’Oréal ($8.99)

5. Brow Stylist Definer by L’Oréal ($8.99)

Pros:

Among the micro brow pencils, Brow Stylist Definer has a pencil with a good balance of creamy and stiffness in its formula. This means it doesn’t break off easily! Its great pigment makes it easier to fill in the eyebrows especially if you suffer from having sparse areas.

Cons:

One major con though, this product is so good that you’ll want to wear it everyday. Which means repurchasing every two weeks! 

Shady Slim Brow Pencil by L.A. Girl ($5.99)

6. Shady Slim Brow Pencil by L.A. Girl ($5.99)

Pros:

We thought L’Oréal’s Brow Stylist is already a great bargain, but here’s L.A. Girl’s Shady Slim Brow Pencil matching its quality for a lower price. It has also a wide selection of shades to choose from. You can achieve both full and feathered brows with this pencil. 

Cons:

Brow pencils that break are a bummer because it’s such a waste of product and sadly, this is the type of issue you’ll be encountering with the Shady Slim Brow Pencil.

Brow Promade by L.A. Girl ($8)

7. Brow Pomade by L.A. Girl ($8)

Pros:

Brow Pomade by L.A. Girl is a great dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Dipbrow. It’s super creamy and glides on smooth. Rejoice beach babes, this has long lasting coverage and almost waterproof, perfect for those hot days on the beach! ?

Cons:

If you’re a little more than the normal oily in the temple area, longevity might decrease but should still last long.

Ulta Beauty Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara by Essence ($2.99)

8. Ulta Beauty Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara by Essence ($2.99)

Pros:

Eyebrow mascaras are known for that quick fix you can have in 10 seconds! Using the spoolie, you can create that feathery, natural looking brows while filling the sparse areas.

Cons:

Downside though is that there are only a few shades options. Ulta, please formulate mooore!

Brow Cream by MORPHE ($6)

9. Brow Cream by MORPHE ($6)

Pros:

Brow Cream by MORPHE, as the name suggests, has a creamier and has more blendable formula than its dupe Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Dipbrow. This performance with more than half the price! What a steal!

Cons:

Although it has a wide range of browns, blonde gals do not benefit as Morphe doesn’t offer blonde shade in this line.

Brow Kit by e.l.f Cosmetic ($4)

10. Brow Kit by e.l.f. Cosmetic ($4)

Pros:

Brow Kit by e.l.f. has two components: setting powder and pigmented wax. This is great for beginners since one can control the amount of product by layering.

Cons:

The only downside here is the brush that comes with the kit. Although with it’s price, you’ll still have a budget for a nice brush.

As an Asian with really short lashes, Maybelline amazes me with their mascara. Mine stayed curly and volumized all day! Their unique fanning brush definitely did its work. It has a tendency to dry out easily though, so you may wanna brush fast through the strands.

Lash Discovery Waterproof Mascara by Maybelline ($8.99)

Lash Discovery has a tiny brush which is perfect for the lower lashes and hard-to-reach corners. Don’t expect much volume because of the brush design but this should do with achieving a natural look. Like Lash Sensational, this dries out easily as well.

Volum’ Express The Colossal Waterproof Mascara by Maybelline ($7.99)

You can really play along with this to build up the dramatic volume you want without it wearing down the curl. This tiny bottle is boosted with hefty amounts of collagen, and gives your lashes an instant fluff-up. Its unique wand is crafted with wavy, winded bristles to help give you that added HD effect. Just like other waterproof mascara, this one is difficult to remove.

Full ‘N Soft Waterproof Mascara by Maybelline ($8.99)

Full ‘N Soft gives the quality performance Maybelline is giving with their other mascaras, only this time, it doesn’t dry out brittle on the strands. At the end of the day, it makes it easier to remove the product without losing those precious strands.

Great Lash Waterproof Mascara by Maybelline ($6.99)

This is definitely for a go-to mascara with its established Maybelline performance and cheap price. It is hypoallergenic and contact lens safe. With its good waterproof ability, it can be a bit stubborn to remove.

Volumizing Waterproof Mascara by Revlon ($8.99)

This mascara by Revlon can be your girls night out go-to! Enjoy dancing all night without the fear of smudging. Its turn-it-up brush is designed to give that 100% volume you need for a night look. Although, you may need another brush to reach the corners and lower lashes.

Volume Hero Waterproof Mascara by Essence ($4.99)

For only $4.99,Volume Hero is great for its price. It comes with a silicone brush which can be convenient if you want to clean it in the future. The silicone brush also minimizes the falling of lashes, which bristles in the usual brushes sometimes do. The only downside is the “chemically” smell to it.

Are you kidding me? Another childhood favorite! On this time, in a colorful palette with 18 saucy shades, well-balanced with warm and cool tones. Aside from having a good performing eyeshadow, we need our makeup products (especially our palettes!) to be in a sturdy packaging which I Heart Revolution doesn’t fail to deliver. Their Tasty Pizza Palette comes in a thick sturdy plastic with a 3D pizza. Mommies, big sissies, hide this from the kids!

Tasty Chili Palette by I Heart Revolution ($15)
